http://youtu.be/BWrqjz7p8d8

The charismatic Ranbir Kapoor born on September 28, 1982 belongs to the fourth generation of the prestigious ‘Kapoor Family’ which is reckoned as the first family of Bollywood Film Industry. Great grandson of the bollywood pioneer Prithviraj Kapoor and grandson of legendry Raj Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor is the son of actor Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor (Neetu Singh). Hailing from such a prestigious clan Ranbir is a born talent and a promising actor.

Making his acting debut in the 2007 film Saawariya, for which he won the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut, Kapoor went on to earn critical praise for his performance in Wake Up Sid (2009). He later appeared in the commercially successful romantic comedy Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani (2009) and the multi-starrer drama Raajneeti (2010), which is his biggest commercial success to date

Ranbir was a part of two short films before he made his debut on big screen. He worked as assistant director on the sets of Prem Granth, Aa Ab Laut Chalen and Black.

While on Ranbir Kapoor’s performance in Rockstar, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that it is his extraordinary work in the film that drew a section of the audience to the cinemas despite mixed reports. A lot of people, who saw the film, found the second half either boring or dull or objectionable and let this be known to those who hadn’t seen the film. But there was unanimity about Ranbir’s acting in the film and everyone felt, he had excelled himself. Indeed, a lot of people braved the negative report of the film and went to watch it for Ranbir’s performance. Now, that’s what a rockstar is all about, right?!

He kick started his career in the industry, where his family already holds an impressive record, with two movies Karma and India 1964 in 2004. He also donned the hat of an assistant director on the sets of Prem Granth, Aa Ab Laut Chalen and the award-winning Black.

It was followed by a commercial movie with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya.  The much talked about movie hit the screens in 2007, where he starred opposite another newcomer Sonam Kapoor, a childhood friend and a star daughter herself. The movie did not make a big splash but his presence was definitely felt and he won the Filmfare Best Male Debut award.

His second movie Bachna Hai Haseeno released in 2008, in which he played a playboy opposite Minisha Lamba, Deepika Padukone and Bipash Basu. The response to the movie was both hot and cold.

Kapoor began 2010 with Prakash Jha’s political drama Raajneeti. The film was a blockbuster and had been appreciated by audiences and critics alike. Although it was a multi-starrer with actors likes Ajay Devgan, Nana Patekar and Manoj Bajpayee, Ranbir stood out with his performance. His next release was Anjaana Anjaani with Priyanka Chopra.

Ranbir Kapoor has often openly said that his father, Rishi Kapoor, has never really praised his acting in any film, at least not to him. As for his mother, Neetu Singh, she, according to him, finds him good in every film. Well, in that case, Rishi Kapoor’s reaction after watching Ranbir’s latest film, Rockstar, must’ve gladdened son Ranbir’s heart. For, the proud father is said to have told the nervous-as-hell son that his grandfather (the legendary Raj Kapoor) would’ve been so proud of him (Ranbir) if he were alive to watch Rockstar. That’s one helluva compliment!

In his latest film, Rockstar, the maverick director has shown a married Nargis Fakhri having a torrid affair with friend Ranbir Kapoor. Unlike what most directors would have done, Ali has not shown that Nargis is driven to the affair because of a bad marriage. It is only passion that drives her to cosy up to Ranbir behind her hubby’s back. The closest comparison one can think of is Karan Johar’s Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna in which a married Rani Mukerji walks out on her husband (Abhishek Bachchan) after having an affair with Shah Rukh Khan who himself is a married man.

"I told Ranbir that if his grandfather Raj Kapoor would've lived to see this film, he would've been very proud of him," said Rishi. Ranbir is overwhelmed with this compliment. He's only too glad to have said yes to the movie.

Apparently, Rishi Kapoor wasn't too sure if Ranbir should do 'Rockstar'. However, the Kapoor lad loved the unique script and the team he was working with, and made his own decision to be a part of the Imtiaz Ali directed venture.

Ask Ranbir about the reactions he has been getting to his performance in Rockstar, and the actor says that he is only too happy with the encouragement coming his way. Ranbir will next be seen in Anurag Basu's 'Barfee' with Priyanka Chopra
