Miss International 2011 María Fernanda Cornejo of Ecuador Wins Crown





Miss InternationalMaria Fernanda Cornejo, Miss Ecuador, was crowned Miss International 2011 at the finale of the Pageant held Sunday November 6, 2011 at the Sichuan Province Gymnasium in Chengdu, China.







María Fernanda Cornejo Alfaro (born 1989) is an Ecuadorian beauty pageant titleholder and Top Model who was crowned Miss International Ecuador 2011 and is the reigning Miss International.






Fernanda Cornejo lives and works in Guayaquil, Ecuador. She is one of the most requested models in her country. Cornejo is taking a bachelor's degree in nutrition at UEES and speaks Spanish and English. She enjoys singing, going to the beach, playing basketball and doing pilates.






As the official representative of her country to the 2011 Miss International pageant, current Miss International titleholder,[6] Elizabeth Mosquera of Venezuela crowned her Miss Ecuador as Miss International 2011.






Fernanda, who stands 1.78 m (5 ft 10 in) tall, competed as the representative of Pichincha, She was the favorite contestant among Ecuadorians to win the crown in her country's national beauty pageant, Miss Ecuador 2011, broadcast live on March 17, 2011 from Santo Domingo, where she obtained the Best National Costume award[4] and became the eventual the 2nd Runner-up, gaining the right to represent Ecuador in Miss International 2011







The first runner-up was Jessica Barboza from Venezuela. The second runner-up was Tugsuu Idersaikhan from Mongolia. The third runner-up was Keity Mendieta from Panama and the fourth runner-up was Desiree del Rio from Puerto Rico. The top three winners will stay in China for an extra week to attend commitments with sponsors of the pageant.







Top 15 completed with Brazil (Gabriella Marcelino), Latvia (Lelde Paulsone), Lebanon (Maria Farah), Netherlands (Tali Hertsenberg), Philippines (Dianne Necio), Russia (Elena Chepilchenko), Sweden (Denise Andree), Thailand (Kantapat Peerdachainarin), Trinidad & Tobago (Renee Bhagwandeen) and Vietnam (Truong Tri Truc Diem).






- Special Awards:
Miss Photogenic was Miss Venezuela, while there was a tie in the Miss Friendship award between Hawaii and Mexico. China won Miss Talent, Thailand won best National Costume, Philippines won Miss Internet and Ecuador bagged the titles of Miss Beauty and Best Figure.
