His family name does not actually mean "the beef". As spelled, it is a Cajun deformation of the original French name "LeBoeuf". "Le" instead of "La" because in French, "Beef" or "Boeuf" is masculine and the correct way the name is spelled is "Leboeuf" or "LeBoeuf". As so often happened in Louisiana, the name became deformed because the French sent there could say their name but could not read or write French correctly. "Beouf" is not a French word or name. There is no such name as "Labeouf" or "LaBeouf" in French. Correctly spelled it would mean "the beef" in the singular tense.

Personal Quotes
[when asked about what it's like to be a celebrity] I'll tell you when I become one.
[when asked about what type of girls he likes] I like the dark, mysterious, maybe even gothic type girls. They have to have a good personality, too. I'm very picky.
I got to grow up in a situation where drugs were demonic. To watch your dad go through heroin withdrawal is something that would keep you from doing any of that yourself.
I'm not an Adonis, that's for damn sure. I've never really thought of myself that way, and it doesn't matter to me. My favorite actors aren't Adonises. Dustin Hoffman is a flawed-looking man; he's amazing to me. Tom Hanks is flawed-looking; people love him. Same with Gene Hackman.
I was billed as the ten-year-old kid with the 50-year-old mouth. I knew if I wanted to work in the business, funny would be good because I looked like Garry Shandling.
Clubs are so lame. Nobody even dances at these clubs. They stand around and get drunk and they schmooze. There is no enjoyment factor. You get so many invites . . . partying has never interested me. My dad was a drug addict. There's something about watching your dad go through heroin withdrawal when you're 11. It's not interesting anymore. I'm not individualizing this. There are lots of kids that deal with this. I'm an '80s baby; that's what was going on.

[on his co-star Harrison Ford]I've been fortunate enough to work with Harrison on (Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the) Crystal Skull, and I can honestly say it is a dream come true. He's a man's man. And he's incredible because he make movies even better, because we love him as much as Indy hates snakes, and because he's captain of the goddamn Millenium Falcon!
Talent is funny, I've always looked at talent like what the hell does talent really mean? Talent is to actors what luck is to card players. It's not really anything, it's just a fictitious word that people have created and labeled things. Talent is like you know I never really believed in talent, I believed in drive and determination and preparation but talent is sort of like luck. I wouldn't want to think of myself as talented it doesn't seem like there's any validity in that. I like to think of myself as an ordinary man with extra ordinary determination. That's it.
[on Megan Fox] She is a very attractive girl. Very attractive. And she's a very close friend. But it hasn't been a romantic thing, because you're trying to respect the work environment. You don't push anything. And with sex and romance, things can become so convoluted so fast.
[on dating Rihanna] It never got beyond one date. The spark wasn't there. We weren't passionate about each other in that way, so we remain friends.
There's no patriotism. There's selfishness. It's the movie Wall Street (1987). Pure selfishness, 'Greed is good', It really happened. People don't look at that character, Gordon Gekko, and see an enemy. They look at him like they look at Scarface (1983), a kind of role model. 'Hell, yeah. That's the guy! That's the superman!' Well, that's our pop culture. That's its values.
http://www3.pictures.fp.zimbio.com/Transformers+Revenge+Fallen+Premiere+Berlin+6Zvo26WQycbl.jpg
My generation will actually be the first generation that is tamer than the one that came before it, and it will probably be poorer; less fun and less money. It's ridiculous. In my parents' generation, rebellion was pop culture. It's not anymore. You can see it in something as simple as where their music was at and where ours is now. If you look at our Billboard Top 100, a lot of those songs on there are from Christian country artists. A lot of rappers, too, are very Christian. The fact that religion is even still talked about is kind of wild to me. I think my generation understands it, but they are too selfish to let it matter.
I come from hippies. My dad was a wandering dude recovering from the war in Vietnam. And my mom, before she met him, had a head shop in Brooklyn. Bob Dylan used to come in and smoke weed. All her furniture hung upside-down from the ceiling. She was out of her mind. It was the 1970s.
Actors live dependent on being validated by other people's opinions. I don't understand what it is I do that people want. I don't know what an actor does. I have no credentials. I don't know what I'm doing. To my mind, talent doesn't really exist. Talent is like a card player's luck. It is motivation, ambition, and luck. It's just a drive to be the best. I think acting is a con game.
I know I'm one of the luckiest dudes in America right now. I have a great house. My parents don't have to work. I've got money. I'm famous. But it could all change, man. It could go away. You never know.
Most actors on most days don't think they're worthy. I have no idea where this insecurity comes from, but it's a God-sized hole. If I knew, I'd fill it, and I'd be on my way.
Sometimes I feel I'm living a meaningless life and I get frightened.
[On Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009)] There are a lot of people that liked the second one, but I hated it. I just didn't enjoy it. I thought we missed the mark. I got confused, I couldn't see what the f*ck was going on, you know with certain robots... I couldn't decipher what was happening. There were storyline paths that I just wouldn't have gone down.
[On Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011)] I know that directors Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg are dedicated to making the best movie we possibly can, and we're not going to miss next time.
[On his career] I hope I will never go to the Robert De Niro stage where I've gotten there and I am comfortable. Because that's the death of an actor. Look at Dustin Hoffman, he is still striving, pushing and fighting. Comfort is the end.
http://www2.pictures.zimbio.com/bg/Indiana+Jones+Kingdom+Crystal+Skull+Film+Stills+e-5Gnxlj7Orl.jpg
[On acting] This is a dream. At first, it was just fun, and a great way to pay the rent, but I gradually realized that there's an art to this, and if I try, I can do it well. I shouldn't say I realized that, because it was really more a case of my being taught that lesson, by Jon Voight, when we made Holes (2003) together. He just became a real mentor to me, and his wisdom, his years of experience, just gave me a whole new perspective on what I'm doing. I've always tried to do the best job I possibly can in every movie since.
[On being directed by Oliver Stone in "Money Never Sleeps"]: I felt outclassed as an actor. The first meeting I had with Oliver, he looked me in the eye and said, 'Don't worry. Tom Cruise wasn't an actor before he met me either. I've never been so scared into submission. He frightened me to the depths of my being.

Personal Quotes
After being cast as Harry Potter: "I think I'm a tiny bit like Harry 'cos I'd like to have an owl. Yeah, that's the tiny bit, actually."
I don't know. People tell me I look mournful. They say, "Cheer up, Dan, it's not that bad!" Sometimes I just look into space, which freaks people out. If I was ever required to do anything other than look haunted, I could. I'm a happy person. Though I don't, like, dot my "I's" with hearts or anything - that would be too happy.
I'm not much of a cake person.
But I don't think it's going to happen. I don't think I'll do all of them - I'll probably get too spotty or too tall or I'll shrink or something.
"Absolutely. 100 percent." [on believing in magic]
I was in the bath at the time, and my dad came running in and said, 'Guess who they want to play Harry Potter!?' and I started to cry. It was probably the best moment of my life.
I'm not clumsy, I'm just accident prone.
http://www4.pictures.zimbio.com/pc/Daniel+Radcliffe+World+Premiere+Harry+Potter+ryRvD0iqomkl.jpg
Upon seeing the movie: "I'm a bit nervous about whether people will like it, but I've seen it, and I'm sure they will. It's really good - it's quite scary, it's quite emotional. Even I cried and I don't cry easily! I cried at the end credits when my name came up, and I was, like, Oh my God! I can't believe that's my name! I've met so many people since we started filming and it's been wonderful. I've progressed so far and changed so much since the beginning. It's been like a real journey."
On considering himself as a heartthrob: "Personally I can't see it, but if other people can, fine. Cool!"
I would consider doing any part as long as the script is good and the film has an interesting director.
"I like them, but it's hard to concentrate when the bats fly about, and they pee while they fly." [about the bats on the set]
I've never been one of the cool people at school, but then again, I don't get the people who are cool. It's not that I don't like them, it's just that they don't interest me.
"Too many little numbers on one page!" - about math
Stage is much more intimidating than going before the cameras, because you can really screw up, and can't do a retake.
When I go back to school everyone asks a lot of questions. Then, after about a week, when I've answered everything, we get back to normal.
It's too far down the road to decide about a fifth movie. I'm still the same age Harry is, and I haven't actually grown that much.
Fans are really important for me. And if they take pains to write me, it's the minimum that I answer myself.
I think I'm highly normal. I'm attending school after acting, I'm going out with friends, going to the cinema - I'm just doing everything a normal teenager does. People think I can't leave the house without being in a crowd of fans - but that's not true. I'm able to do more things than people might think.
I'm thrilled of the acceptance I get abroad. The people are so hearty, warm and grateful and I feel privileged having seen so many countries and some of the greatest monuments.
When I get into trouble at school I'd like to take an invisibility cloak, drape it over me and sneak out the door. Or I'd like to have a 3-headed-dog because then no one would argue with me.
I played a trick on the make-up department where I put a fake blood capsule in my mouth, pretended to trip on the stairs and let the blood come out of my mouth. They really fell for it, then they chased after me with a water pistol.
Everyone on the set has a mobile phone, and I found by pushing a few buttons, they could be programmed into different languages. I fixed Robbie's (Coltrane) to speak in Turkish.
I don't understand girls, but I'm slowly learning.
[on saying that he'll do all of the Harry Potter movies] "Ultimately it comes down to whether we're still enjoying it. If we are then I think we would be sort of stupid not to do them. As long as I'm doing other stuff around the same time, I think it'll be fine. Also, I sort of try to read the books when they come out impartially and not make up my mind, but the fact is when I was reading the sixth, Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince, there were bits in there where I was going, 'God, I would love to do that because it's so good.'"
(on whether he is religious) "I'm not a religious person. My mom was of Jewish blood and my dad was Protestant... I'm very interested in religion as something to study, but I'm not a religious person in the slightest."
I didn't look at the nudity and go, oh great. But it's the same as doing a role with an accent or a particular affectation. You look at the character first. Lots of the actors that I've admired have at one stage or another taken their kit off. It's a rite of passage. That iconic scene is the physical and emotional climax of the play. So if I do that with pants on, it would be crap.
I feel OK about my body. Not totally, of course, no one my age does ... but I've gone to the gym to make sure. And many of the actors I admire, like Gary Oldman, have gone naked.
People will always remember Harry, but I think if I work hard enough other characters will stick in their minds as well.

[About the "Equus" paparazzi]: They were outside the theatre every single night, but we came up with a cunning ruse. I would wear the same outfit every time - a different T-shirt underneath, but I'd wear the same jacket and zip it up so they couldn't see what I was wearing underneath, and the same hat. So they could take pictures for six months, but it would look like the same day, so they (photos) became unpublishable. Which was hilarious, because there's nothing better than seeing paparazzi getting really frustrated.
What everybody would love to see is me having ditched school and then just going wild. That's what I'm determined not to give them.
It's not so much that they don't want me to grow up. It's that they're annoyed that I'm growing up adjusted. They'd much rather I was growing up and going wild and crashing cars.
I'm lucky enough to have a job that I love, and a relatively down-to-earth life.
(On being bullied in school) Some people did get very aggressive. People say it was just jealousy, but I don't think it is jealousy. I think it's just 'We can have a crack at the kid who plays Harry Potter.' As Eddie Izzard says, these people always hang about in fives, because people these have a fifth of a personality each.
I hate celebrity culture but I'm unavoidably part of it. These people are celebrities as a by-product of what they do. People read every little thing about Peter Andre and Katie Price and I couldn't care less. They don't want to work, have no interests, no passions, nothing and yet they seem to be held up on pedestals. I don't think they should be trying to push themselves onto us. It does annoy me of course, but I'm part of it.

Trade Mark:

Mole on her left cheek
Personal Quotes:

I feel I'll take on the responsibility of showing the world a whole different kind of Latin woman.
It's fun to be a woman. It's fun to flirt and wear makeup and have boobs.
The celebrity world can be so ugly. Everyone seems to have slept with everyone else and it's some sort of strange weird cycle. I don't want to get into that.
I don't go to premieres. I attend film openings I'm in, and that's about it. Fame and celebrity doesn't matter to me. The longevity of my career does.
I have the hugest . . . overbite. It's so big, my older brothers and sisters used to call me "Bugs". I looked like a bottle opener. But I've never fixed my bite because it's one of the things that makes me me. I used to get teased about the mole on my left cheek. In junior high the other kids would say, "You've got some chocolate on your face", and I fell for it every time. I said, "The minute I turn 18 I'm going to get that mole removed!" But I'm happy I didn't. My best feature is my big hips. I've got some nice childbearing hips, and I feel very proud of them. When I was younger I thought they were too big. I wanted to be slimmer. But now I totally embarace them.
I'm obsessed with Keira Knightley. I think that she's just got it down. She takes chances, she's edgy, but she's always a lady. She is so unconventionally beautiful.
I wanted to be a nun when I was very little. Well, that was until my sister told me that they don't get paid. Then I went off that idea quickly.
I know I walk a fine line between being a respected actor and being what they call a sex symbol. It's a hard one to walk if you want to be known as a real, credible actor. But I've never felt objectified. Nothing you see me do is an accident. I might act like it's an accident, but the opposite is true. I'm incredibly calculated when it comes to my career.

Devendra Bishoo is a legspinner who has risen through the ranks since his debut in the 2008 season, and is considered a West Indies prospect. He cut his teeth at the first-class level and courted immediate success, snaring four five-wicket hauls, and ten in one match, in his first couple of seasons. His attacking style of bowling had a major impact in the 2010 Caribbean T20 where he finished with ten wickets in four games at the mean average of 8.20, conceding just 5.12 runs an over. His Man-of-the-Series award in that tournament tipped him as one of the players to watch out for in the Champions League.

It was God who made me so beautiful. If I weren't, then I'd be a teacher.
"We don't wake up for less than $10,000 a day." (Spoken in Vogue in 1990 to Jonathan Van Meter, talking about money and how she and a few other models were calling the shots and changing the game.)
I don't diet. I just don't eat as much as I'd like to.
http://www3.pictures.gi.zimbio.com/Brooklyn+Museum+Louis+Vuitton+Celebrate+Murakami+vub6rpNJNRZl.jpg
People think modeling's mindless, that you just stand there and pose, but it doesn't have to be that way. I like to have a lot of input. I know how to wear a dress, whether it should be shot with me standing or sitting.
[In 2005, retracting her statement about not getting out of bed for less than $10,000 a day.] I can't stand the way this follows me around. I said it a long time ago, and I hope today I am a different person. Now I get out of bed for a much better reason. I'm part of a team that raises millions of dollars and raises awareness of HIV and AIDS all over the world.

Career

Evangelista later moved to New York City and signed with Elite Model Management there. She then moved to Paris, France, to further her career. She also appeared in music videos with George Michael.
Evangelista jokingly uttered the quote, "We don't wake up for less than $10,000 a day",(often misquoted as: "We don't get out of bed for less than..." or "I don't get out of bed for less than...") Spoken in Vogue (1990) to Jonathan van Meter, talking about money and how she and a few other models were calling the shots and changing the game.

In the late 1980s, she cut all her hair off to brandish a little-boy-style haircut and was promptly cancelled from all the important runway shows that season. This was the first of many dramatic hairstyle changes. Within months, she appeared on magazine covers everywhere and many women emulated the hairstyle.
In 2007, she signed a multiple-year exclusive contract with the cosmetics company L'Oreal Paris. It was announced in early 2008 that she would be featured in the Prada Fall 2008 campaign seen in magazines internationally.
