Afshan Azad was born on 12th February 1988 in Longsight, Manchester, England. She is a British actress.

Biography:

Afshan Azad was born and brought up in Longsight, Manchester. She is a Bengali though her parents were born in United Kingdom. She went to Whalley Range High School for Girls. She dropped out from high school to do her AS and A-Levels at Xavier College.

She started her acting career in 2005. When she was in school the casting agents of Harry Potter visited her school and chose her for the role of Padma Patil for the Harry Potter films after many auditions. During the filming of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire she became very close to her co-star Shefali Chowdhury. She is also friends with Bonnie Wright and Katie Leung.

She attended Whalley Range High School for Girls before leaving to do her AS and A-Levels (her final two years of school) at Xaverian College.
She is of Bangladeshi ancestry although both she and her parents were born in the UK.
